[Num:21:4]  U telqu minn ħdejn il-muntanja Ħor mat-triq tal-Baħar tal-Qasab biex jeħduha bid-dawra ma' l-art ta' Edom, imma l-poplu ddejjaq jimxi,
[Num:21:5]  u beda jgerger kontra Alla u kontra Mosè: “Għala tellajtuna mill-Eġittu biex immutu fid-deżert? M'hawnx ħobż u lanqas ilma; aħna xbajna b'dan l-ikel ħafif.”
[Num:21:6]  U l-Mulej bagħat sriep velenużi f'nofs il-poplu u bdew jigdmuhom; u mietu ħafna mill-poplu ta' Iżrael. [Num:21:7]  U l-poplu mar għand Mosè, u qalulu: “Dnibna għax tkellimna kontra l-Mulej u kontra tiegħek. Itlob lill-Mulej ħa jwarrab  is-sriep minn fostna.” U Mosè mar jitlob għall-poplu.

U ġara li kull min kien jigdmu s-serp kien iħares lejn is-serp tal-bronż, u kien ifiq u jgħix.

“Cosa porta le persone a credere a sedicenti veggenti come Paolo Catanzaro? L’illusione che di loro mi posso fidare quasi ciecamente perché sono uniti a Dio e mi risolvono tutti i problemi. E’ una forma di surrogato, cioè le persone che non hanno una fede autentica e non la coltivano rischiano di rimanere intrappolati nella rete”. Questo é il commento dell’Arcivescovo di Brindisi-Ostuni, Mons. Domenico Caliandro, durante l’inchiesta di ‘Indagine ai Confini del Sacro’ di David Murgia su Tv2000, sulla vicenda di Paolo Catanzaro, sedicente veggente che dagli inizi degli anni ’90, per circa 20 anni, ha raccontato di incontrare la Madonna ogni 24 del mese nella chiesetta rurale di contrada Uggio, nelle campagne di Brindisi. Durante gli incontri, a detta dei testimoni, avrebbe compiuto guarigioni e profetizzato rivelazioni in un turbine di svenimenti, profumi intensi, sole che cambia colore e altri fenomeni. Paolo Catanzaro, le cui apparizioni sono state ritenute dall’arcidiocesi di Brindisi-Ostuni e dalla Congregazione della Dottrina della Fede non autentiche, è imputato presso il Tribunale di Bari per truffa aggravata. Il sedicente veggente ha successivamente cambiato sesso diventando Paola Catanzaro. Ha quindi intrapreso la carriera artistica come attrice cinematografica con il nome d’arte Sveva Cardinale.

Satan is a deceiver.

2 Corinthians 11:3  But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by its cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

Matthew 24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Romans 16:18 for such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites. They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words.

Colossians 2:8 Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.

2 Timothy 3:13 But evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse as they deceive others and are themselves deceived.

Deceiving yourself into thinking your bad friends won’t lead you astray.

1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”
 

Being deceived by worthless things such as idols and riches.

Job 15:31 Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless, for he will get nothing in return.

Deuteronomy 11:16 Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them.

Matthew 13:22 The seed planted among thornbushes is another person who hears the word. But the worries of life and the deceitful pleasures of riches choke the word so that it can’t produce anything.

 

Being deceived by thinking you don’t sin.  

1 John 1:8 If we say that we do not have any sin, we are deceiving ourselves and we’re not being truthful to ourselves.

 

Being deceived by sin, which causes you to live in rebellion.  

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality, no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom.

1 John 1:8 The person who practices sin belongs to the evil one, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason that the Son of God was revealed was to destroy what the Devil has been doing.

Drugs deceive us. 

Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.
