- “A man who leaves his wife and takes another woman commits adultery. In the same way, if a woman leaves her husband and takes another man, she is guilty of adultery too.” (Mark 10:12)
- “The man who takes a married woman whose husband is still alive commits adultery which she too is guilty of.” (Luke 16:18)
- From the Letter to the Romans:
“To the married, I give charge, NOT I, BUT THE LORD CHRIST HIMSELF, that if the wife separates from her husband, even for very valid reasons, she must remain single if it is no longer possible for her be reconciled to her husband once again, and that the husband cannot divorce his wife even if he lives separated from her. All of you know about GOD’S LAW, that RULES OVER ALL PEOPLE AS LONG AS THEY LIVE, EVEN THOSE WHO REJECT TO LIVE ACCORDING TO HIS WORD, AS WELL AS THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN HIM, INCLUDING THOSE WHO REFUSE TO BELIEVE IN HIM! A married woman is bound by God’s law to her husband as long as he lives. So then, if she gets involved in a relationship outside marriage and gives herself to another man while her husband is alive, she is an adulteress and a great cause of scandal to others, and for this she must answer directly to God Himself”.
- From the First Letter to the Corinthians:
“The body is not to be used for sexual immorality, but to serve the Lord; and the Lord provides for the body. God raised the Lord from death, and He will also raise our bodies by His power. You know that your bodies are parts of the body of Christ. Shall I take a part of Christ's body and make it part of the body of a sinner? Impossible! Perhaps you do not know that the man or the woman who joins his or her body to a woman or a man who is not his wife or her husband becomes physically one with her or with him? The scripture says quite plainly, ‘The two will become one body.’ But he who joins himself to the Lord in the great sacrament of marriage becomes spiritually one with Him. Avoid immorality. Any other sin a man or a woman commits does not affect his or her body; but the man or the woman who is guilty of sexual adultery sins against his or her own body. Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? Your body is not yours, but belongs to God. You do not belong to yourselves but to God! Christ bought you for a very high price: His Own Precious Blood shed on the cross. So use your bodies for God's glory, and not to displease Him!”
