Michael Argemir, born in Spain on September 29, 1591, became a Trinitarian friar in 1607, and took the name Michael of the Saints.
During his brief 33-year life, his generous service to the poor, the unfortunate and the sick made him a compassionate priest and a faithful friend.
His ministry did not end with his death. After 11 days of prayer, Frances Sanz was cured through his intercession. The cancerous tumours on her lip and tongue disappeared. No scars were left. Hers was one of many such cures and was presented as one of many miracles when Pius IX canonised Argemir on June 8, 1862.

A Mass organised by the Social Assistance Secretariat of the Malta Catholic Action is being said at St Paul’s Shipwreck parish church in Valletta on Friday at 6.30pm, concluding with a novena prayer of St Michael of the Saints, Trinitarian, patron saint of cancer.

The public is invited to attend.
