Evanġelju
Ġismi huwa tassew ikel, u demmi hu tassew xorb.
Ġw 6, 51-58

Qari mill-Evanġelju skont San Ġwann

F’dak iż-żmien, Ġesù qal lin-nies: “[Ġw:6:51] Jiena hu l-ħobż il-ħaj, li niżel mis-sema. Jekk xi ħadd jiekol minn dan il-ħobż jgħix għal dejjem. U l-ħobż li jiena nagħti huwa ġismi għall-ħajja tad-dinja."

[Ġw:6:52] Fuq hekk il-Lhud tlewwmu bejniethom, u bdew jgħidu: "Kif jista' dan jagħtina ġismu biex nikluh?" [Ġw:6:53] Ġesù mela qalilhom: "Tassew tassew ngħidilkom, jekk ma tiklux il-ġisem ta' Bin il-bniedem u ma tixorbux demmu, ma jkollkomx il-ħajja fikom. [Ġw:6:54] Min jiekol ġismi u jixrob demmi għandu l-ħajja ta' dejjem, u jiena nqajjmu mill-imwiet fl-aħħar jum. [Ġw:6:55] Għax ġismi huwa tassew ikel, u demmi hu tassew xorb.

[Ġw:6:56] Min jiekol ġismi u jixrob demmi jibqa' fija u jiena fih. [Ġw:6:57] Bħalma bagħatni l-Missier, li hu ħaj, u jiena ngħix b'Missieri, hekk ukoll min jiekol lili, hu wkoll jgħix bija.

[Ġw:6:58] Dan huwa l-ħobż li niżel mis-sema; m'huwiex bħal dak li kielu missirijietkom u mietu; min jiekol dan il-ħobż jgħix għal dejjem."

BREAD OF LIFE (Reflection Year B)

Gospel of John chapter 6 - in Maltese language...

MILL-EVANĠELJU SKOND SAN ĠWANN, KAPITLU 6

6. Ġesù jitma' ħamest elef
(Mt 14, 13-21 ; Mk 6, 30-44 ; Lq 9, 10-17)

[Ġw:6:1] Wara dan, Ġesù telaq lejn in-naħa l-oħra tal-baħar tal-Galilija, jew ta' Tiberija. [Ġw:6:2] Ħafna nies marru warajh, għax raw is-sinjali li kien jagħmel bil-fejqan tal-morda. [Ġw:6:3] Ġesù tela' lejn l-għoljiet u qagħad hemm bilqiegħda mad-dixxipli tiegħu. [Ġw:6:4] Kien qrib l-Għid, il-festa tal-Lhud. [Ġw:6:5] Ġesù rafa' għajnejh, lemaħ kotra ta' nies ġejja lejh, u qal lil Filippu: "Mnejn nixtru l-ħobż biex dawn ikollhom x'jieklu?" [Ġw:6:6] Dan qalulu biex jippruvah, għaliex hu kien jaf x'sejjer jagħmel. [Ġw:6:7] Filippu wieġbu: "Mitejn dinar ħobż ma jkunux biżżejjed għalihom biex kull wieħed minnhom jieħu xi ftit." [Ġw:6:8] Wieħed mid-dixxipli tiegħu, Indrì, ħu Xmun Pietru, qallu:[Ġw:6:9] "Hawn tfajjel li għandu ħames ħobżiet tax-xgħir u żewġ ħutiet żgħar; imma dawn x'inhuma għal daqshekk nies?" [Ġw:6:10] "Qiegħdu n-nies bilqiegħda," qal Ġesù. Dik in-naħa kien hemm ħafna ħaxix. Għalhekk in-nies, xi ħamest elef raġel, qagħdu bilqiegħda. [Ġw:6:11] Ġesù ħa l-ħobżiet, radd il-ħajr, u qassamhom lil dawk li kienu bilqiegħda; hekk ukoll għamel bil-ħut, u kulħadd ħa kemm ried. [Ġw:6:12] Meta xebgħu, Ġesù qal lid-dixxipli tiegħu: "Iġbru l-loqom li baqa', biex xejn ma jinħela." [Ġw:6:13] Marru jiġbruhom, u mlew tnax-il qoffa bil-loqom li kien fadlilhom in-nies mill-ħames ħobżiet tax-xgħir wara li kienu kielu. [Ġw:6:14] Għalhekk dawn in-nies, meta raw dan is-sinjal li għamel Ġesù, qalu: "Dan hu tassew il-Profeta li għandu jiġi fid-dinja!" [Ġw:6:15] Imma Ġesù, meta ntebaħ li kienu ġejjin biex jeħduh bilfors ħalli jagħmluh sultan, raġa' warrab waħdu lejn l-għoljiet.

Ġesù jimxi fuq il-baħar
(Mt 14, 22-33 ; Mk 6, 45-52)
[Ġw:6:16] Xħin sar filgħaxija, id-dixxipli tiegħu niżlu ħdejn il-baħar, [Ġw:6:17] rikbu dgħajsa u ġibdu għax-xatt l-ieħor tal-baħar, lejn Kafarnahum. Kien ġa dalam, u Ġesù kien għadu ma ġiex jilħaqhom. [Ġw:6:18] Il-baħar kien qam sewwa, għax kien qiegħed jonfoħ riħ qawwi. [Ġw:6:19] Mela wara li kienu qadfu xi ħamsa u għoxrin jew tletin stadju, raw lil Ġesù miexi fuq il-baħar riesaq lejn id-dgħajsa, u beżgħu. [Ġw:6:20] Imma hu qalilhom: "Jiena hu, la tibżgħux." [Ġw:6:21] Għalhekk riedu jtellgħuh fuq id-dgħajsa, iżda minnufih id-dgħajsa messet l-art fejn kienu sejrin.

Ġesù hu l-ħobż tal-ħajja
[Ġw:6:22] L-għada, in-nies li kienu għadhom in-naħa l-oħra tal-baħar raw li hemmhekk ma kienx hemm ħlief dgħajsa waħda u li Ġesù ma kienx tela' fiha mad-dixxipli tiegħu, imma li d-dixxipli kienu marru weħidhom. [Ġw:6:23] Mela waslu xi dgħajjes oħra minn Tiberija qrib fejn kienu kielu l-ħobż wara li l-Mulej kien radd il-ħajr. [Ġw:6:24] Iżda n-nies, meta raw li fuqhom la kien hemm Ġesù u lanqas id-dixxipli tiegħu, telgħu fuq id-dgħajjes u marru lejn Kafarnahum ifittxu lil Ġesù.
[Ġw:6:25] U meta sabuh in-naħa l-oħra tal-baħar staqsewh: "Rabbi, meta ġejt hawn?" [Ġw:6:26] Ġesù weġibhom: "Tassew tassew ngħidilkom, intom qegħdin tfittxuni mhux għax rajtu sinjali, imma għax kiltu mill-ħobż u xbajtu. [Ġw:6:27] Tħabtu mhux għall-ikel li jgħaddi, iżda għall-ikel li jibqa' għall-ħajja ta' dejjem, dak li Bin il-bniedem jagħtikom, għaliex lilu Alla l-Missier immarka bis-siġill tiegħu." [Ġw:6:28] Mbagħad staqsewh: "X'għandna nagħmlu biex nagħmlu l-opri ta' Alla?" [Ġw:6:29] Weġibhom Ġesù: "L-opra ta' Alla hija din: li intom temmnu f'dak li huwa bagħat." [Ġw:6:30] Qalulu: "X'sinjal se tagħmel biex aħna narawh u nemmnuk? X'sejjer tagħmel? [Ġw:6:31] Missirijietna kielu l-manna fid-deżert, bħalma hemm miktub, 'Tahom jieklu ħobż mis-sema.' " [Ġw:6:32] Weġibhom Ġesù: "Tassew tassew ngħidilkom, mhux Mosè takom il-ħobż mis-sema, iżda Missieri jagħtikom il-ħobż tassew mis-sema; [Ġw:6:33] għaliex il-ħobż ta' Alla huwa dak li jinżel mis-sema u jagħti l-ħajja lid-dinja."
[Ġw:6:34] "Sinjur," qalulu huma, "agħtina dejjem minn dan il-ħobż." [Ġw:6:35] Weġibhom Ġesù: "Jiena hu l-ħobż tal-ħajja. Min jiġi għandi ma jieħdu qatt il-ġuħ, u min jemmen fija ma jkun qatt bil-għatx. [Ġw:6:36] Imma jiena ġa għedtilkom li, għalkemm rajtuni, ma emmintux. [Ġw:6:37] Dawk kollha li jagħtini Missieri jiġu għandi, u min jiġi għandi ma nkeċċihx 'il barra; [Ġw:6:38] għax jiena nżilt mis-sema mhux biex nagħmel ir-rieda tiegħi, imma  r-rieda ta' min bagħatni. [Ġw:6:39] Issa r-rieda ta' min bagħatni hija din: li jiena ma nitlef xejn minn dak kollu li tani, iżda li nqajjmu mill-imwiet  fl-aħħar jum. [Ġw:6:40] Din hi tabilħaqq ir-rieda ta' Missieri: li kull min jara lill-Iben u jemmen fih, ikollu l-ħajja ta' dejjem u jiena nqajjmu mill-imwiet fl-aħħar jum."
[Ġw:6:41] Il-Lhud bdew igergru fuqu għax kien qal, 'Jiena hu l-ħobż li niżel mis-sema.' [Ġw:6:42] U bdew jgħidu: "Dan m'huwiex Ġesù bin Ġużeppi? Lil missieru u 'l ommu ma nafuhomx? Mela kif qiegħed jgħid, 'Jiena nżilt mis-sema'?" [Ġw:6:43] Ġesù weġibhom: "Toqogħdux tgorru bejnietkom. [Ġw:6:44] Ħadd ma jista' jiġi għandi jekk il-Missier li bagħatni ma jiġbdux lejja; u jiena nqajjmu mill-imwiet fl-aħħar jum. [Ġw:6:45] Hemm miktub fil-Profeti, 'U kulħadd ikun mgħallem minn Alla.' Mela kull min jisma' lill-Missier u jitgħallem minnu jiġi għandi. [Ġw:6:46] Mhux għax xi ħadd qatt ra lill-Missier ħlief dak li hu minn Alla; hu dan li ra lill-Missier. [Ġw:6:47] Tassew tassew ngħidilkom, min jemmen għandu l-ħajja ta' dejjem. [Ġw:6:48] Jiena hu l-ħobż tal-ħajja. [Ġw:6:49] Missirijietkom kielu l-manna fid-deżert, u mietu; [Ġw:6:50] dan hu l-ħobż nieżel mis-sema, biex min jiekol minnu ma jmutx. [Ġw:6:51] Jiena hu l-ħobż il-ħaj, li niżel mis-sema. Jekk xi ħadd jiekol minn dan il-ħobż jgħix għal dejjem. U l-ħobż li jiena nagħti huwa ġismi għall-ħajja tad-dinja."
[Ġw:6:52] Fuq hekk il-Lhud tlewwmu bejniethom, u bdew jgħidu: "Kif jista' dan jagħtina ġismu biex nikluh?" [Ġw:6:53] Ġesù mela qalilhom: "Tassew tassew ngħidilkom, jekk ma tiklux il-ġisem ta' Bin il-bniedem u ma tixorbux demmu, ma jkollkomx il-ħajja fikom. [Ġw:6:54] Min jiekol ġismi u jixrob demmi għandu l-ħajja ta' dejjem, u jiena nqajjmu mill-imwiet fl-aħħar jum. [Ġw:6:55] Għax ġismi huwa tassew ikel, u demmi hu tassew xorb. [Ġw:6:56] Min jiekol ġismi u jixrob demmi jibqa' fija u jiena fih. [Ġw:6:57] Bħalma bagħatni l-Missier, li hu ħaj, u jiena ngħix b'Missieri, hekk ukoll min jiekol lili, hu wkoll jgħix bija. [Ġw:6:58] Dan huwa l-ħobż li niżel mis-sema; m'huwiex bħal dak li kielu missirijietkom u mietu; min jiekol dan il-ħobż jgħix għal dejjem." [Ġw:6:59] Dan qalu huwa u jgħallem fis-sinagoga, f'Kafarnahum.

Il-kliem tal-ħajja ta' dejjem
[Ġw:6:60] Ħafna dixxipli tiegħu, meta semgħuh, qalu: "Iebes dan il-kliem! Min jiflaħ jisimgħu?" [Ġw:6:61] Ġesù ntebaħ waħdu li d-dixxipli tiegħu kienu qegħdin igergru fuq hekk, u qalilhom: "Dan il-kliem qiegħed ifixkilkom? [Ġw:6:62] Mela xi tgħidu kieku kellkom taraw lil Bin il-bniedem tiela' fejn kien qabel? [Ġw:6:63] Hu l-ispirtu li jagħti l-ħajja, il-ġisem ma jiswa għal xejn. Il-kliem li jiena għedtilkom huwa spirtu u ħajja. [Ġw:6:64] Iżda hemm xi wħud fostkom li ma jemmnux." Għaliex Ġesù kien jaf sa mill-bidu min kienu dawk li ma emmnux u min kien dak li kellu jittradih. [Ġw:6:65] U ssokta jgħidilhom: "Kien għalhekk li jiena għedtilkom li ħadd ma jista' jiġi għandi jekk il-Missier ma jagħtihx li jiġi." [Ġw:6:66] Minn dak in-nhar bosta mid-dixxipli tiegħu telquh u ma baqgħux imorru warajh. [Ġw:6:67] Mbagħad Ġesù qal lit-Tnax: "Tridux titilqu intom ukoll?" [Ġw:6:68] Wieġbu Xmun Pietru: "Mulej, għand min immorru? Inti għandek il-kliem tal-ħajja ta' dejjem, [Ġw:6:69] u aħna emminna u għarafna li inti l-Qaddis ta' Alla." [Ġw:6:70] Qalilhom Ġesù: "M'hux jien kont li għażiltkom lilkom it-Tnax? U madankollu wieħed minnkom huwa xitan." [Ġw:6:71] Kien qiegħed jgħid għal Ġuda ta' Xmun l-Iskarjota, għax kien hu li kellu jittradih, hu, wieħed mit-Tnax.

Mary Coredemptrix in the Eucharistic Mystery
Catholics always believe that there is a close association between the mystery of Christ in the Holy Eucharist and the mystery of Mary. This “sense of faith” is given theological and doctrinal exposition in this exciting new volume of Mary at the Foot of the Cross - VI: Marian Coredemption in the Eucharistic Mystery.
Originally presented as Acts of the Marian symposium in England in the year of the Eucharist 2005, this precious collection of articles presents profound insights on the relationship between Marian Coredemption and Eucharistic mystery. Articles such as the late John Paul II’s teachings on Mary’s Presence in the Mass, Mary and the Eucharist in John of the Cross, St. Louis Grignion de Montfort, Adrienne Von Speyer, St. Veronica Giuliani, are only some of the most inspiring thought on the subject matter compiled in one decent volume. Ideal for scholarly research written by theologians and scholars, this volume is also accessible to non-professional readers as well. A must reading on the central truth of our Catholic faith: Mary and the Holy Eucharist.

MARCH 14 - ST MATHILDE (MATILDA) & THE THREE HAIL MARIES, DAILY

http://www.archbishoplefebvre.com/blog/three-hail-marys-devotion

As Santa Matilda begged to the Most Holy Virgin that She help her at the hour of death, she heard that the most benign Lady said to her:  "Yes I will do it; but I want you to say three Hail Marys daily to me. The first, requesting that as God Father placed me on a throne of glory without equal, making me the most powerful in Heaven and Earth, that I may attend to you on Earth for strengthen you and to separate you from all enemy power. On the second Hail Mary you will request from me that just as the Son of God filled me of wisdom, to such degree that I have more knowledge of the Most Holy Trinity than all the Saints, I will attend to you in the critical moment of death to fill your soul with the lights of the faith and true wisdom, so that they are not obscured by the darkness of error and ignorance.  On the third, you will request that just as the Holy Spirit has filled me with the sweetness of his love, and has made me so loving that after God, I am the sweetest and most merciful, so that when I attend you at death filling your soul with such smoothness of divine love, that all pain and bitterness of death change for you into delights."

The practice of this devotion cannot be either easier, or briefer.  Easy, because all we have to do is pray every day three Hail Marys, thanking the Most Holy Trinity for the gifts of Power, Wisdom, and Love, that were granted to the Immaculate Virgin, and urging to Mary to use them for our assistance.

Method to practice this devotion:

Every day, pray the following:

Mary, my Mother; do not let me commit mortal sin!

1 By the Power that the Eternal Father granted you.  (Say one Hail Mary)

2 By the Wisdom that the Son granted you.  (Say one Hail Mary)

3 By the Love that the Holy Spirit granted you (Say one Hail Mary)

meditating on - WHAT HELD YOU ON THE CROSS JESUS ?

WHAT HELD YOU ON THE CROSS
by Michael O'Brien and Hamm

I know You--I've seen You all my life
A Figure on a crucifix, a Death without a fight
You're hanging there upon a cross just by Your hands and feet
The picture's clear, but the story is incomplete…

So what was it, that led You to that tree?
What made You lay Your body down to save someone like me?
So though it's true, I know that You were God inside a man…
So I guess sometimes it's hard to understand…

What held You on the cross when You could have walked away ?
I see what You have done, and I just have to say
What held You on the cross was more than just the nails
With all the pain and suffering, and all that You had lost…
Your love for me could only be what held You on the cross

You saw me--I guess You must have known
My life would be in darkness, so You and You alone would bear the stripes,
The crown of thorns, and all humility…
Lord, I see myself, but it's hard for me to see

What held You on the cross when You could have walked away?
I see what You have done, and I just have to say
What held You on the cross was more than just the nails
With all the pain and suffering, and all that You had lost
Your love for me could only be what held you on the cross.

I don't deserve Your mercy, still You loved me just the same
You died for me, and yet, and yet it's hard to know…

What held You on the cross when You could have walked away ?
I see what You have done, and I just have to say
What held You on the cross was more than just the nails
With all the pain and suffering, and all that You had lost
Your love for me could only be what held you on the cross.
Your love for me could only be what held you on the cross.

"LORD, I NEED YOU" --- ... Before you start yelling ... qabel ma tibda' twerzaq u tirrabja ... --- Knowledge is knowing what to say - Wisdom is knowing when to say it

John 8:44b ... the devil was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Bullying is the devil’s work, says Pope Francis

***************************************************************

BEFORE YOU START YELLING ANGRILY...

QABEL MA TIBDA' TWERŻAQ, TIRRABJA...

ANGER

ĠESÙ, WIĊĊ IL-ĦNIENA TA’ ALLA, dejjem qed jistennik titolbu b’umiltà sinċiera, biex jaħsel bid-Demm Qaddis tiegħU, sew lilek ħa tiftaħ qalbek għaliĦ u timtela’ bis-sliem u l-mogħdrija; kif ukoll  lil min qed jikkoreġi l-azzjoni tiegħek jew jgħajjrek, u qed issibu diffiċli f’ħajjtek - kull darba li jgħidlek xi ħaġa fejn int hemm bżonn li tinbidel u trid tinduna bl-iżbal; anke wkoll jekk taqla' xi kelma li tħossha goffa jew tirċievi xi kuntrarju ieħor, xi qlajja...

Alla qiegħed magħna, fil-fallimenti tagħna, fid-diżappunti tagħna, fil-mard tagħna, fl-isolament tagħna, fit-traġedji tagħna u juża persuni u sitwazzjonijiet biex isalvana ħalli nikbru fl-umiltà, bil-kuraġġ, bit-trasformazzjoni u fil-qdusija -  Alla huwa mħabba; jibqa' jħenn għall-bniedem li jkun qed jiġi mqarraq mix-xitan u juża' kull mezz biex jeħilsu mix-xibka tal-ħażen.

Poġġi kull sitwazzjoni li tinsab fiha fil-kustat ta’ Ġesù biex dawk l-aħħar qatriet tad-Demm Qaddis tiegħU jaqgħu fuq kull problema li għandek.

Pope at closing Mass in Philadelphia: Do not underestimate the power of kindness

Mt 5:38-42 -- Eye for Eye - Il-vendetta

It is said that revenge is a dish best served cold. Actually, revenge is a dish best not served at all because this toxic emotion hurts us as much as those on the receiving end of it. Jesus’ teaching on revenge is deeply radical and revolutionary.
The Old Testament recognized that revenge was very much a fact of life, part and parcel of the human condition. The principle of ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’ was intended to restrict vengeance and restrain resulting violence within certain limits. Jesus not only turned this idea on its head – he threw it out with the bath water. The Sermon on the Mount holds out what seems to be, on superficial reading, a kind of doctrine of passive resistance, but this is to misunderstand the teaching. Jesus isn’t teaching passive resistance but rather active love.
What each of us knows in our hearts is that revenge is exhausting and wearisome. It drains us of all that is good. We plot, we scheme, we resent, we loathe and we drink deeply of this poisonous chalice. We nurse it, cultivate it and obsess about getting even. Of course, most of us don’t resort to violence, but our thoughts and the intention of our hearts can be all-consuming and we can be bent on revenge. Jesus’ teaching is counter-intuitive and kicks against our human nature.
The Holy Spirit shows us that resentment, revenge and recrimination imprison us in chains and rob us of joy. The Spirit replaces the fire of revenge with the fire of God’s love in our hearts. The Spirit gives us the wisdom to pray for our enemies and ask for God’s blessing upon those who wish us harm or who have hurt or wounded us. The Spirit helps us to put down the weapon of revenge and anger in our hearts: to bless and not curse, to love and not hate, to go the extra mile, offer the other cheek and love until it hurts. God understands our hurt and pain but as our Shepherd he leads us into the pastures of his love where we can rest and be restored, and can reach out to others with the mercy and love we have received.

Lord, teach me not to repay evil for evil but to live in peace with everyone. Grant that I may not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.

Pope Francis: The world hates meekness of Christians

FROM - THE DIARY OF SAINT FAUSTINA KOWALSKA - no:1628

Teaching on Feelings
Meditation:

(Diary passages with bolded words are Jesus speaking)

During Holy Mass, I saw Jesus stretched out on the Cross, and He said to me, My pupil, have great love for those who cause you suffering. Do good to those who hate you. I answered, "O my Master, You see very well that I feel no love for them, and that troubles me." Jesus answered, It is not always within your power to control your feelings. You will recognize that you have love if, after having experienced annoyance and contradiction, you do not lose your peace, but pray for those who have made you suffer and wish them well (Diary, 1628).

My Prayer Response:

Thank You, Jesus, for teaching me about my feelings when annoyed by people. Help me to love them and remain in peace. Whenever I think of them, remind me to pray for them.

Hebrews 4:12
Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

[Lhud 4:12]
Il-kelma ta' Alla hi ħajja u qawwija, taqta' aktar minn xabla b'żewġt ixfar; hija tinfed sa tifred minn xulxin ir-ruħ u  l-ispirtu u l-ġogi u l-mudullun; u tgħarbel il-ħsibijiet u l-fehmiet  tal-qalb.

Galatians 5:16-26

The Works of the Flesh

16 Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what the Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent you from doing what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. I am warning you, as I warned you before: those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Fruit of the Spirit

22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another.

Galatin 5:16-26

Il-frott tal-ġisem

[Gal 5:16] Jien ngħidilkom, imxu fl-Ispirtu u taqgħux għall-passjonijiet tal-ġisem. [Gal 5:17] Il-passjonijiet tal-ġisem huma kontra l-Ispirtu, u  l-Ispirtu hu kontra l-ġisem; dawn it-tnejn huma kontra xulxin, biex ma jħallukomx tagħmlu dak li tixtiequ. [Gal 5:18] Jekk lilkom imexxikom l-Ispirtu, m'intomx taħt il-liġi. [Gal 5:19] L-għemejjel tal-ġisem huma magħrufa: żína, faħx, nuqqas ta' rażan, [Gal 5:20] idolatrija, seħer, mibegħda, ġlied, għira, korla, ambizzjoni, firda, partiti, [Gal 5:21] invidja, sokor, tbaħrid, u ħwejjeġ bħal dawn. Nwissikom, bħalma wissejtkom qabel, min jagħmel dawn il-ħwejjeġ ma jiritx is-saltna ta' Alla.

Il-frott ta' l-Ispirtu

[Gal 5:22] Il-frott ta' l-Ispirtu huma: l-imħabba, l-hena, is-sliem, is-sabar, il-ħniena, it-tjieba, il-fidi, [Gal 5:23] il-ħlewwa, ir-rażan. Kontra dawn ma hemmx liġi. [Gal 5:24] Dawk li huma ta' Kristu Ġesù sallbu l-ġisem il-ġibdiet u l-passjonijiet tiegħu. [Gal 5:25] Jekk ngħixu bl-Ispirtu, ħalli nimxu bl-Ispirtu; [Gal 5:26] ma nkunux minn dawk li jfittxu l-ftaħir fieragħ; ma nġarrbux lil xulxin; ma ngħirux għal xulxin.

Isaija 55

Isaiah 55 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

An Invitation to Abundant Life

55 Ho, everyone who thirsts,
    come to the waters;
and you that have no money,
    come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
    without money and without price.
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
Incline your ear, and come to me;
listen, so that you may live.
I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for David.
See, I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.
See, you shall call nations that you do not know,
and nations that do not know you shall run to you,
because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel,
    for he has glorified you.
Seek the Lord while he may be found,
    call upon him while he is near;
let the wicked forsake their way,
    and the unrighteous their thoughts;
let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return there until they have watered the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
12 For you shall go out in joy,
    and be led back in peace;
the mountains and the hills before you
    shall burst into song,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;
    instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;
and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial,
for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
