These are the readings for the memorial

First reading
Isaiah 61:9-11

I exult for joy in the Lord

Their race will be famous throughout the nations,

their descendants throughout the peoples.

All who see them will admit

that they are a race whom the Lord has blessed.

‘I exult for joy in the Lord,

my soul rejoices in my God,

for he has clothed me in the garments of salvation,

he has wrapped me in the cloak of integrity,

like a bridegroom wearing his wreath,

like a bride adorned in her jewels.

‘For as the earth makes fresh things grow,

as a garden makes seeds spring up,

so will the Lord make both integrity and praise

spring up in the sight of the nations.’

Responsorial Psalm
1 Samuel 2:1,4-8

My heart exults in the Lord my Saviour.

My heart exults in the Lord.

  I find my strength in my God;

my mouth laughs at my enemies

  as I rejoice in your saving help.

My heart exults in the Lord my Saviour.

The bows of the mighty are broken,

  but the weak are clothed with strength.

Those with plenty must labour for bread,

  but the hungry need work no more.

The childless wife has children now

  but the fruitful wife bears no more.

My heart exults in the Lord my Saviour.

It is the Lord who gives life and death,

  he brings men to the grave and back;

it is the Lord who gives poverty and riches.

  He brings men low and raises them on high.

My heart exults in the Lord my Saviour.

He lifts up the lowly from the dust,

  from the dungheap he raises the poor

to set him in the company of princes

  to give him a glorious throne.

For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s,

  on them he has set the world.

My heart exults in the Lord my Saviour.

Gospel Acclamation
cf.Lk2:19

Alleluia, alleluia!

Blessed is the Virgin Mary,

who treasured the word of God

and pondered it in her heart.

Alleluia!

The Immaculate Heart of Mary --- Memorial --- The Gospel on SATURDAY morning after Friday, THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

PROPER GOSPEL - Lk 2:41-51 -- His mother treasured all these things in her heart - Kienet iżżomm u tgħożż dawn il-ħwejjeġ  ġo qalbha.

Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary ---
The Gospel on SATURDAY morning after Friday, THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Evanġelju
Kienet iżżomm u tgħożż dawn il-ħwejjeġ ġo qalbha.
Lq 2, 41-51

Qari mill-Evanġelju skont San Luqa [Lq:2:41] Ta' kull sena l-ġenituri ta' Ġesù kienu jmorru Ġerusalemm għall-festa ta' l-Għid. [Lq:2:42] Meta kellu tnax-il sena, telgħu, kif kienet id-drawwa, għall-festa. [Lq:2:43] U wara li għaddew dawk il-jiem huma u sejrin lura, it-tifel Ġesù baqa' Ġerusalemm bla ma kienu jafu l-ġenituri tiegħu. [Lq:2:44] Billi ħasbuh qiegħed ma' dawk li kienu fit-triq magħhom, baqgħu mexjin jum sħiħ, imbagħad bdew ifittxuh fost qrabathom u n-nies li kienu jafu. [Lq:2:45] Iżda billi ma sabuhx, reġgħu lura Ġerusalemm ifittxuh. [Lq:2:46] Wara tlitt ijiem sabuh fit-Tempju, bilqiegħda f'nofs il-għorrief, jismagħhom u jistaqsihom; [Lq:2:47] u kull min semgħu baqa' mistagħġeb bid-dehen u t-tweġibiet tiegħu. [Lq:2:48] Kif rawh, stamtu, ommu qaltlu: "Ibni, għaliex għamiltilna hekk? Ara, missierek u jiena konna qegħdin infittxuk b'qalbna maqsuma!" [Lq:2:49] U hu qalilhom: "Il-għala kontu qegħdin tfittxuni? Ma tafux li jiena jeħtieġli nkun f'dak li hu ta' Missieri?" [Lq:2:50] Iżda huma ma fehmuhiex il-kelma li qalilhom. [Lq:2:51] Imbagħad niżel magħhom u reġa' ġie Nazaret; u kien joqgħod għalihom. U ommu kienet tgħożż f’qalbha dawn il-ħwejjeġ kollha. Il-Kelma tal-Mulej R/. Tifħir lilek Kristu

PSALMODY

Ant. 1 As morning breaks we sing of your mercy, Lord, and night will find us proclaiming your fidelity.

Psalm 92
Praise of God the Creator
Sing in praise of Christ’s redeeming work (Saint Athanasius)
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to make music to your name, O Most High,
to proclaim your love in the morning
and your truth in the watches of the night,
on the ten-stringed lyre and the lute,
with the murmuring sound of the harp.
Your deeds, O Lord, have made me glad;
for the work of your hands I shout with joy.
O Lord, how great are your works!
How deep are your designs!
The foolish man cannot know this
and the fool cannot understand.
Though the wicked spring up like grass
and all who do evil thrive:
they are doomed to be eternally destroyed.
But you, Lord, are eternally on high.
See how your enemies perish;
all doers of evil are scattered.
To me you give the wild-ox’s strength;
you anoint me with the purest oil.
My eyes looked in triumph on my foes;
my ears heard gladly of their fall.
The just will flourish like the palm-tree
and grow like a Lebanon cedar.
Planted in the house of the Lord
they will flourish in the courts of our God,
still bearing fruit when they are old,
still full of sap, still green,
to proclaim that the Lord is just;
In him, my rock, there is no wrong.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
— as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm-prayer
Take our shame away from us, Lord, and make us rejoice in your saving works. May all who have been chosen by your Son always abound in works of faith, hope, and love in your service.
Ant. 1 As morning breaks we sing of your mercy, Lord, and night will find us proclaiming your fidelity.

Ant.2 Extol the greatness of our God.
Canticle – Deuteronomy 32:1-12
God’s kindness to his people
How often have I longed to gather your children as a hen gathers her brood under her wing. (Matthew 23:37)
Give ear, O heavens, while I speak;
let the earth hearken to the words of my mouth!
May my instruction soak in like the rain,
and my discourse permeate like the dew,
Like a downpour upon the grass,
like a shower upon the crops:
For I will sing the Lord’s renown.
Oh, proclaim the greatness of our God!
The Rock – how faultless are his deeds,
 how right all his ways!
A faithful God, without deceit,
how just and upright he is!
Yet basely has he been treated by his degenerate children,
a perverse and crooked race!
Is the Lord to be thus repaid by you,
O stupid and foolish people?
Is he not your father who created you?
Has he not made you and established you?
Think back on the days of old,
reflect on the years of age upon age.
Ask your father and he will inform you,
ask your elders and they will tell you:
When the Most High assigned the nations their heritage,
when he parceled out the descendants of Adam,
He set up the boundaries of the peoples
after the number of the sons of God;
While the Lord’s own portion was Jacob,
His hereditary share was Israel.
He found them in a wilderness,
a wasteland of howling desert.
He shielded them and cared for them,
guarding them as the apple of his eye.
As an eagle incites its nestlings forth
by hovering over its brood,
So he spread his wings to receive them
and bore them up on his pinions.
The Lord alone was their leader,
no strange god was with him.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
— as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. 2 Extol the greatness of our God.

Ant. 3 How wonderful is your name, O Lord, in all creation.
Psalm 8
Praise for God’s loving compassion
I affirm that… the Gentile peoples are to praise God because of his mercy
 (Romans 15:8-9)
How great is your name, O Lord our God,
through all the earth!
Your majesty is praised above the heavens;
on the lips of children and of babes
you have found praise to foil your enemy,
to silence the foe and the rebel.
When I see the heavens, the work of your hands,
the moon and the stars which you arranged,
what is man that you should keep him in mind,
mortal man that you care for him?
Yet you have made him little less than a god;
with glory and honour you crowned him,
gave him power over the works of your hands,
put all things under his feet.
All of them, sheep and cattle,
yes, even the savage beasts,
birds of the air, and fish that make their way through the waters.
How great is your name, O Lord our God
through all the earth!
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: — as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm-prayer
Almighty Lord, how wonderful is your name. You have made every creature subject to you; make us worthy to give you service.
Ant. 3 How wonderful is your name, O Lord, in all creation.
READING See Isaiah 61:10
I rejoice heartily in the Lord,
in my God is the joy of my soul;
For he has clothed me with a robe of salvation,
and wrapped me in a mantle of justice,
like a bride bedecked with her jewels.

- The Word of the Lord - Thanks be to God

Sacred Silence (indicated by a bell) – a moment to reflect and receive in our hearts the full resonance of the voice of the Holy Spirit and to unite our personal prayer more closely with the word of God and public voice of the Church.
RESPONSORY
 The Lord has chosen her, his loved one from the beginning.
— The Lord has chosen her, his loved one from the beginning.
He has taken her to live with him,
— his loved one from the beginning.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, — The Lord has chosen her, his loved one from the beginning.
CANTICLE OF ZECHARIAH
Ant. My heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God.
Luke 1:68 – 79
The Messiah and his forerunner
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel;
he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty saviour,
born of the house of his servant David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old
that he would save us from our enemies,
from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
to set us free from the hands of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear,
holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way,
to give his people knowledge of salvation
by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever. Amen.
Ant. My heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God.
INTERCESSIONS
Let us glorify our Saviour, who chose the Virgin Mary for his mother. Let us ask him: May your mother intercede for us, Lord.
Sun of Justice, the immaculate Virgin was the white dawn announcing your rising,
— grant that we may always live in the light of your coming.
May your mother intercede for us, Lord.
Eternal Word, you chose Mary as the uncorrupted ark of your dwelling place,
 — free us from the corruption of sin.
May your mother intercede for us, Lord.
Saviour of mankind, your mother stood at the foot of your cross,
— grant, through her intercession, that we may rejoice to share in your passion.
May your mother intercede for us, Lord.
With ultimate generosity and love, you gave Mary as a mother to your beloved disciple,
— help us to live as worthy sons of so noble a mother.
May your mother intercede for us, Lord.
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Concluding Prayer
O God,
who prepared a fit dwelling place for the Holy Spirit
in the Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
graciously grant that through her intercession
we may be a worthy temple of your glory.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
 — Amen.
DISMISSAL
May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life.
— Amen.

IS-SIBT FUQ IT-2 ĦADD WARA GĦID IL-ĦAMSIN
Festa tal-Qalb Bla Tebgħa ta' Marija

ATT TA’ KONSAGRAZZJONI LILL-QALB BLA TEBGĦA TA’ MARIJA

O Marija, Omm ta’ Alla u Omm tagħna, f’din is-siegħa tat-tiġrib aħna lejk induru. Inti Omm, li tħobbna u tafna: għalik xejn mhu moħbi minn dak li għandna għal qalbna. Omm tal-ħniena, tant drabi aħna doqna l-ħlewwa tiegħek kollha providenza, il-preżenza tiegħek li troddilna s-sliem, għax int dejjem tmexxina lejn Ġesù, il-Prinċep tas-sliem.
Imma aħna tlifna t-triq tal-paċi. Insejnieha l-lezzjoni tat-traġedji tal-aħħar seklu, is-sagrifiċċju tal-miljuni li mietu fil-gwerer dinjija. Warrabna l-impenji li ħadna bħala Komunità tan-Nazzjonijiet u qed nittradixxu l-ħolm tal-popli għall-paċi u t-tamiet taż-żgħażagħ. Imradna bir-regħba, ingħalaqna fl-interessi nazzjonalistiċi tagħna, ħallejna l-indifferenza tnixxfilna qalbna u l-egoiżmu jipparalizzana. Ippreferejna ninjoraw lil Alla, ngħixu mal-qerq tagħna, inħeġġu l-aggressività, nisħqu ħajjiet u nġemmgħu armi, u nsejna li aħna ħarriesa tal-proxxmu tagħna u tal-istess dar komuni. Bil-gwerra aħna ħarbatna l-ġnien tal-Art, bid-dnub weġġajna l-qalb ta’ Alla Missierna, li jridna lkoll aħwa. Sirna indifferenti lejn kulħadd u kollox, ħlief lejna nfusna. U mriegħxa ngħidu: Aħfrilna, Mulej!

Qalb il-miżerja tad-dnub, it-taħbit u d-dgħufijiet tagħna, il-misteru tal-ħażen u tal-gwerra, int, Omm qaddisa, tfakkarna li Alla ma jitlaqniex waħidna, imma jibqa’ jmexxina bi mħabbtu, għax jixtieq jaħfrilna u jerġa’ jerfagħna fuq saqajna. Kien hu li tana lilek u qiegħed fil-Qalb bla tebgħa tiegħek kenn għall-Knisja u għall-umanità. Bi tjieba divina int tinsab magħna, u mqar qalb l-idjeq liwjiet tal-istorja tmexxina bi ħlewwa.

Għalhekk lejk induru, inħabbtu fuq il-bieb tal-Qalb tiegħek, aħna, l-ulied għeżież tiegħek li f’kull żmien int ma tehdiex iżżur u tistieden għall-konverżjoni. F’din is-siegħa mudlama ejja biex tidħol għalina u tfarraġna. Tenni lil kull wieħed u waħda minna: “Forsi mhux hawn qiegħda jiena, l-Omm tiegħek?”. Inti taf kif tħoll l-għoqiedi tal-qalb tagħna u ta’ żmienna. Fik inqiegħdu l-fiduċja tagħna. Aħna żguri li int, speċjalment fis-siegħa tal-prova, ma tistmerrx it-talbiet tagħna u tindukrana.

Hekk għamilt f’Kana tal-Galilija, meta għaġġilt is-siegħa tal-indħil ta’ Ġesù u hekk introduċejt l-ewwel sinjal tiegħu fid-dinja. Meta l-festa kienet għoddha nbidlet fi mrar, int għidtlu: “M’għandhomx inbid” (Ġw 2:3). Tennih dan mill-ġdid lil Alla, ja Omm tagħna, għax illum spiċċalna l-inbid tat-tama, għeb il-ferħ, ġiet fix-xejn il-fraternità. Tlifna l-umanità tagħna, kasbarna l-paċi. Sirna kapaċi għal kull vjolenza u qerda. Għandna bżonn urġenti tal-intervent tiegħek ta’ omm.

Ilqa’, mela, Omm tagħna, din it-talba tagħna.

Int, Kewkba tal-baħar, tħalliniex niġġarrfu fit-tempesta tal-gwerra.

Int, Arka tal-patt il-ġdid, nebbaħ proġetti u toroq ta’ rikonċiljazzjoni.

Int, “art tas-Sema”, reġġa’ lura l-ftehim li jrid Alla fid-dinja.

Eqred il-mibegħda, rażżan il-vendetta, għallimna l-maħfra.

Eħlisna mill-gwerra, ħares lid-dinja mit-theddida nukleari.

Sultana tar-Rużarju, erġa’ qanqal fina l-ħtieġa li nitolbu u li nħobbu.

Sultana tal-familja tal-bnedmin, uri lill-popli t-triq tal-fraternità.

Sultana tal-paċi, ġib il-paċi fid-dinja.
Ja Omm tagħna, ħa jċaqlaq il-biki tiegħek il-qlub iebsa tagħna. Ħa jkun id-dmugħ li għalina xerridt dak li jwarrad mill-ġdid dan il-wied imnixxef mill-mibegħda tagħna. U waqt li l-istorbju tal-armi madwarna ma jehdiex, ħa tkun it-talba tiegħek li ġġibilna l-paċi. B’dirgħajk ta’ omm żiegħel int b’dawk li qed ibatu u jaħarbu taħt il-piż tal-bombi. Bit-tħaddina tiegħek ta’ omm farraġ int lil dawk li jkollhom iħallu djarhom u pajjiżhom. Ħa tkun il-Qalb muġugħa tiegħek li tqanqalna bil-ħniena u ssuqna biex niftħu l-bibien tagħna u nieħdu ħsieb tal-umanità miġruħa u mormija.

 Omm Qaddisa ta’ Alla, xħin kont taħt is-salib, Ġesù, kif lemaħ lid-dixxiplu ħdejk, qallek: “Hawn hu ibnek” (Ġw 19:26): hekk hu fdalek lil kull wieħed u waħda minna. Imbagħad lid-dixxiplu, lil kull wieħed u waħda minna, hu qal: “Hawn hi ommok” (v. 27). Omm tagħna, aħna issa nixtiequ nilqgħuk fil-ħajja tagħna u fl-istorja tagħna. F’din is-siegħa l-umanità, mifnija u mħawda, tinsab miegħek taħt is-salib. U għandha bżonn tafda fik, tikkonsagra ruħha lil Kristu permezz tiegħek. Il-poplu Ukren u l-poplu Russu, li bi mħabba jqimuk, issa jirrikorru għandek, waqt li l-Qalb tiegħek tħabbat għalihom u għall-popli kollha mifnija mill-gwerra, mill-ġuħ, mill-inġustizzja u mill-miżerja.

Aħna, għalhekk, Omm Alla u Omm tagħna, solennement nafdaw u nikkonsagraw lilna nfusna, lill-Knisja u lill-umanità kollha, b’mod speċjali r-Russja u l-Ukrajna, lill-Qalb bla tebgħa tiegħek. Ilqa’ dan l-att tagħna li qed inwettqu b’fiduċja u mħabba, agħmel li tieqaf il-gwerra, rodd il-paċi lid-dinja. L-“Iva” li ħarġet mill-Qalb tiegħek fetħet il-bibien tal-istorja għall-Prinċep tas-sliem; aħna għandna fiduċja mill-ġdid li, permezz tal-Qalb tiegħek, il-paċi għad tasal. Lilek għalhekk nikkonsagraw il-ġejjieni tal-familja umana kollha, il-ħtiġijiet u x-xewqat tal-popli, il-biżgħat u t-tamiet tad-dinja.

Permezz tiegħek ħa tissawwab fuq l-Art il-Ħniena divina, waqt li t-tokki ħelwin tal-paċi jerġgħu jimmarkaw il-jiem tagħna. O Mara tal-“iva”, li fuqek niżel l-Ispirtu s-Santu, reġġa’ fostna l-armonija ta’ Alla. Aqta’ l-għatx tal-qalb tagħna, int li int “għajn ħajja tat-tama”. Int li nsiġt l-umanità ta’ Ġesù, agħmel minna bennejja tal-komunjoni. Int li mxejt fit-toroq tagħna, mexxina tul il-mogħdijiet tas-sliem. Ammen.

3 he was despised, the lowest of men, a man of sorrows, familiar with suffering, one from whom, as it were, we averted our gaze, despised, for whom we had no regard.

4 Yet ours were the sufferings he was bearing, ours the sorrows he was carrying, while we thought of him as someone being punished and struck with affliction by God;

5 whereas he was being wounded for our rebellions, crushed because of our guilt; the punishment reconciling us fell on him, and we have been healed by his bruises.
