MONDAY 4th week of Easter - in Years B & C

10. Il-parabbola tan-nagħaġ
[Ġw:10:1] "Tassew tassew ngħidilkom, min ma jidħolx fil-maqjel tan-nagħaġ mill-bieb imma jaqbeż ġewwa minn naħa oħra, dak hu ħalliel u brigant. [Ġw:10:2] Imma min jidħol mill-bieb hu r-ragħaj  tan-nagħaġ. [Ġw:10:3] Min ikun mal-bieb lilu jiftaħ, in-nagħaġ minn leħnu jisimgħu, u hu jsejjaħ in-nagħaġ tiegħu waħda waħda b'isimhom u joħroġhom barra. [Ġw:10:4] U meta joħroġ in-nagħaġ tiegħu, huwa jmur quddiemhom u n-nagħaġ jimxu warajh, għax jisimgħu leħnu. [Ġw:10:5] Imma wara wieħed barrani ma jimxux, anzi jaħarbu minnu, għax leħen barrani ma jafuhx." [Ġw:10:6] Din il-parabbola qalilhom Ġesù, iżda huma ma fehmux x'ried jgħidilhom biha.
Ġesù r-ragħaj it-tajjeb
[Ġw:10:7] Għalhekk Ġesù raġa' qalilhom: "Tassew tassew ngħidilkom li  l-bieb tan-nagħaġ huwa jien. [Ġw:10:8] Dawk kollha li ġew sa issa qabli huma ħallelin u briganti. Iżda n-nagħaġ lilhom ma semgħuhomx. [Ġw:10:9] Jiena hu l-bieb; jekk xi ħadd jidħol ġewwa permezz tiegħi jsalva, u jidħol u joħroġ u jsib fejn jirgħa. [Ġw:10:10]  Il-ħalliel ma jidħolx jekk mhux biex jisraq u joqtol u jeqred. Jiena ġejt biex ikollkom il-ħajja, u ħajja bil-kotra.

Jn 10:11-18 - The Good Shepherd and His Sheep - Ġesù r-Ragħaj it-Tajjeb

THE GOOD SHEPHERD - IR-RAGĦAJ IT-TAJJEB
MONDAY - 4th week of Easter - in Year A

[Ġw:10:11] Jiena r-ragħaj  it-tajjeb. Ir-ragħaj it-tajjeb jagħti ħajtu għan-nagħaġ tiegħu. [Ġw:10:12] Il-mikri, li m'huwiex ir-ragħaj, u li n-nagħaġ m'humiex tiegħu, jara  l-lupu ġej, u jħalli n-nagħaġ u jaħrab; u l-lupu jaħtafhom u jxerridhom. [Ġw:10:13] Mikri hu, u ma jħabbilx rasu min-nagħaġ. [Ġw:10:14] Jiena r-ragħaj it-tajjeb; jiena nagħraf in-nagħaġ tiegħi, u n-nagħaġ tiegħi jagħrfu lili, [Ġw:10:15] bħalma l-Missier jagħraf lili u jiena nagħraf lill-Missier; u għan-nagħaġ tiegħi nagħti ħajti. [Ġw:10:16] Għandi wkoll nagħaġ oħra, li m'humiex minn dan il-maqjel; lilhom ukoll jeħtieġ li niġbor, u huma jisimgħu leħni, u jkun hemm merħla waħda, ragħaj wieħed. [Ġw:10:17] Għalhekk iħobbni  l-Missier, għax jien nagħti ħajti, biex nerġa' neħodha. [Ġw:10:18] Ħadd ma jeħodhieli, iżda jien nagħtiha minn rajja. Għandi setgħa li nagħtiha, u għandi s-setgħa li nerġa' neħodha; din hi l-ordni li ħadt mingħand Missieri."

Suffering - St. Bernadette's Prayer....

"The Cross gave peace to the world; and it must bring peace to our hearts. All our miseries come from not loving it. The fear of crosses increases them. A cross carried simply, and without those returns of self-love which exaggerate troubles, is no longer a cross. Peaceable suffering is no longer suffering. We complain of suffering! We should have much more reason to complain of not suffering, since nothing makes us more like Our Lord than carrying His Cross. Oh, what a beautiful union of the soul with Our Lord Jesus Christ by the love and the virtue of His Cross! I do not understand how a Christian can dislike the Cross, and fly from it! Does he not at the same time fly from Him who has deigned to be fastened to it, and to die for us? Contradictions bring us to the foot of the Cross, and the Cross to the gate of Heaven. That we may get there, we must be trodden upon, we must be set at naught, despised, crushed. . . . There are no happy people in this world but those who enjoy calmness of mind in the midst of the troubles of life: they taste the joys of the children of God. . . . All pains are sweet when we suffer in union with Our Lord. . . . To suffer! what does it signify? It is only a moment. If we could go and pass a week in Heaven, we should understand the value of this moment of suffering. We should find no cross heavy enough, no trial bitter enough. . . . The Cross is the gift that God makes to His friends. How beautiful it is to offer ourselves every morning in sacrifice to the good God, and to accept everything in expiation of our sins! We must ask for the love of crosses; then they become sweet. I tried it for four or five years. I was well calumniated, well contradicted, well knocked about. Oh, I had crosses indeed! I had almost more than I could carry! Then I took to asking for love of crosses, and I was happy. I said to myself, truly there is no happiness but in this! We must never think from whence crosses come: they come from God. It is always God who gives us this way of proving our love to Him." (St. John Vianney)
