Quddiesa mill-knisja ta' Sant' Anna, Wied il-Għajn - 25 ta' Lulju, 2021 - fil-Festa ta' Sant Anna omm il-Verġni Marija.
Fl-Ewwel Jum Dinji tan-Nanniet u l-Anzjani mwaqqaf mill-PapaFranġisku - Iċċelebrata fir-raba' Ħadd ta' Lulju
Il-festa ta’ Sant’ Anna tfakkarna wkoll fir-raġel tagħha San Ġwakkin. Fl-istatwa sabiħa li ilha hawnhekk 70 sena, San Ġwakkin ma jidhirx, imma qiegħed iħares lejna mill-istatwa li hemm mal-ġenb tal-knisja, u llum, meta nagħmlu l-quddiesa fuq is-simenta, iħarsu ftit lejn xulxin. Imma b’xi mod tgħiduli, “Sur Isqof, San Ġwakkin qiegħed hemm fl-istatwa għax hemm it-tifla tiegħu.” L-istatwa ta’ Sant’Anna biċ-ċkejkna Marija, u Marija ma ġietx weħidha, ġiet frott l-imħabba ta’ ommha u ta’ missierha, ta’ Sant’Anna u San Ġwakkin.
Fil-ġuf ta’ Sant’Anna, il-Mulej xtaq li jagħmel u jagħti sinjal kbir ħafna tal-ħniena tiegħu. Għaliex qed ngħid hekk? Aħna, ta’ kull sena, lil Sant’Anna nagħmlulha żewġ festi kbar, mhux biss waħda fis-26 ta’ Lulju, imma nagħmulha oħra fit-8 ta’ Diċembru, imbagħad oħra fit-8 ta’ Settembru. Fit-8 ta’ Diċembru, ta’ kull sena, aħna nfakkru t-tnissil bla tebgħa tat-tifla ta’ Sant’Anna, ta’ Marija.
U aħna niċċelebraw b’ferħ kbir dan il-miraklu li xtaq il-Mulej li fil-ġuf ta’ Anna, titnissel Marija miż-żerriegħa ta’ missierha u minn ommha – min jista’ jifhem ħa jifhem – il-Mulej intervjena biex iħares lil din iċ-ċkejkna fit-tnissil tagħha, fil-ġuf ta’ ommha, minn kull tebgħa tad-dnub. Mela meta nħarsu lejn Anna, irridu niftakru li hi mara li Alla għażilha biex fil-ġuf tagħha jibda l-istorja li ġabitilna l-fidwa.
Il-festa tat-8 ta’ Diċembru hija bla dubju l-festa ta’ bintha, imma hija daqstant ieħor il-festa ta’ ommha u ta’ missierha għax huma nissluha fl-imħabba tagħhom, fl-għaqda tal-imħabba ta’ bejniethom u Alla intervjena; huma ħalquha bħala bniedma, hu ħelisha mid-dnub għaliex hu kollu ħniena u jista’ kollox.
Tgħiduli, allura nifhmu għaliex omm il-Madonna kellha tkun jisimha Ħanna, bint il-ħniena għax dan ifisser Anna, bint il-ħniena. Tant ismijiet oħrajn fil-Bibbja jfakkruna fil-ħniena tal-Mulej: Joħanan, Ħananija. Ħanna hija prattikament il-verżjoni femminili ta’ Ħananija, Alla jħenn.
San Ġorġ Preca li kif tafu, miet fil-ġurnata tagħha, kien iħobbha wisq lil Sant’Anna. Kien jemozzjona ruħu jiftakar li din il-mara hija n-nanna ta’ Ġesù, hija n-nanna tal-Iben ta’ Alla magħmul bniedem flimkien man-nannu. Hu kien jimmaġina lil dawn in-nanniet jogħxew bit-tifel ta’ binthom, l-għarusa ta’ Ġużeppi, u jitpaxxew bih bħalma jagħmlu n-nanniet kollha tad-dinja. In-nanniet hawn jifhmuni iżjed. Jien tgħallimt ninnota lil ommmi u ’l missieri meta saru nanniet; x’bidla saret fihom! Kultant konna ngħidu li jfissdu iżjed lin-neputijiet milli fissdu lilna. Imma naħseb dak huwa d-destin tan-nanniet kollha: li jogħxew b’ulied uliedhom, jifirħu b’ulied uliedhom. U nistgħu nimmaġinaw lil Sant’Anna u lil San Ġwakkin jogħxew bit-tarbija Ġesù, jarawh jagħmel l-ewwel pass, ilissen l-ewwel kelma.
Għaddew ukoll mit-turufnament tan-nanniet kollha li fl-ewwel snin tal-ħajja ta’ Ġesù ma kinux miegħu. U jiena rrid insellem lin-nanniet li għal raġuni jew oħra ma jistgħux igawdu lin-neputijiet tagħhom, għax in-nannu u n-nanna ta’ Ġesù ma setgħux igawduh waqt li qed jikber għax kien l-Eġittu. Il-Mulej qal lil Ġużeppi: “aqbad lit-tarbija u lil ommu u ħudhom fl-art tal-Eġittu għaliex min għandu s-setgħa jrid joqtlu” (ara Mt 2, 13). Imbagħad, meta miet Erodi, Ġużeppi reġa’ ħa messaġġ biex jieħu lit-tifel Ġesù u lil ommu, fil-belt ta’ Nazaret (ara v. 20). U nimmaġina l-ferħ ta’ Sant’Anna u San Ġwakkin jaraw kemm kien kiber Ġesù, forsi kien tgħallem xi kelma bl-Eġizzjan ukoll u jaraw kemm kien tifel innoċenti u fl-istess ħin intelliġenti.
Bil-ħarsa tagħha lejn bintha u bis-swaba jħarsu lejn is-sema, Sant’Anna tgħallimna wkoll kif għandhom ikunu l-ġenituri skont il-qalb tal-Mulej. Sant’Anna qed tgħallem lil bintha tħares lejn is-sema mhux biex tinsa l-art, imma biex tiftakar li dak kollu li hu sabiħ fil-ħajja huwa mbierek mis-sema.
Illum smajna silta mill-Ewwel Ittra ta’ San Ġwann Appostlu li jgħallimna li jekk irridu nħobbu tassew, mhux kwistjoni ta’ kliem u tpaċpiċ, imma bl-għemil. “Uliedi, ma nħobbux bil-kliem u t-tpaċpiċ imma bl-għemil u tassew” (1 Ġw 3, 18). U Sant’Anna tgħinna nifhmu dan il-kliem ta’ Alla biex aħna nagħmluh fil-fatti.
Quddiemi qed nara komunità kbira, sabiħa u żagħżugħa. Kemm tkun ħaġa sabiħa li aħna, bħala komunità Nisranija, inħobbu tassew lil xulxin. X’jiswa li aħna nħobbu ħafna lil Sant’Anna, lil bintha Marija, imma mbagħad ma nħobbux lil proxxmu tagħna? Hemm bżonn li aħna nidraw f’xulxin naraw lil Binha Ġesù, lin-neputi ta’ Anna u lill-Iben ta’ Marija.
Il-mara ta’ qawwa, bħalma kienet Anna u bħalma kienet bintha Marija, tiftaħ idejha mal-fqir, tmidd idejha lejn l-imsejken, u li tmidd idek huwa li tagħti lilek innifsek. U hawnhekk ngħarfu l-imħabba vera, “b’dan naslu biex nagħrfu x’inhi l-imħabba” jgħid San Ġwann, “li hu ta’ ħajtu għalina” (v. 16). Jiena nixtieq insellem lil tant ġenituri, lil tant nanniet li jagħtu ħajjithom għal uliedhom u għal ulied uliedhom u nitlob l-interċessjoni qawwija ta’ Sant’Anna biex waqt li ngħożżu l-kliem għeżież ma u pa, nanna u nannu, bużnanna u bużnannu għax issa qed ngħixu iżjed, aħna nikbru fl-imħabba lejn xulxin, nirrispettaw lil xulxin, ngħinu lil xulxin u meta nindunaw li hemm xi ħadd li għandu bżonn ta’ kelma ta’ kuraġġ jew għajnuna, ma noqogħdux lura.
L-aħħar kelma: qed tarawha lil Sant’Anna b’id waħda tindika l-ġenna u bl-oħra sserraħ fuq spallejn bintha? Qed tedukaha, qed tedukaha. It-tagħlim hu l-għajn ta’ kull ġid, u l-ewwel edukazzjoni tibda fil-familja. Fil-familja nitgħallmu ngħidu thank you jew grazzi, fil-familja nitgħallmu ngħidu jekk jogħġbok, please, fil-familja nitgħallmu ngħidu sorry, aħfirli. It-tagħlim li jagħmilna nies. Tajjeb ikollna ħafna skejjel u universitajiet imma l-ewwel edukazzjoni trid tkun fil-familja u l-ewwel edukazzjoni trid tkun l-edukazzjoni tal-qalb.
Ċapċipa lil Sant’Anna. Viva Sant’Anna.

CCR Melbourne - Fr Elias Vella - Insistent Prayer SUNDAY MASS of week 17 in Ordinary Time, in YEAR C.
Readings at Mass
Liturgical Colour: Green.
First reading Genesis 18:20-32
The Lord said, ‘How great an outcry there is against Sodom and Gomorrah! How grievous is their sin! I propose to go down and see whether or not they have done all that is alleged in the outcry against them that has come up to me. I am determined to know.’
The men left there and went to Sodom while Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Approaching him he said, ‘Are you really going to destroy the just man with the sinner? Perhaps there are fifty just men in the town. Will you really overwhelm them, will you not spare the place for the fifty just men in it? Do not think of doing such a thing: to kill the just man with the sinner, treating just and sinner alike! Do not think of it! Will the judge of the whole earth not administer justice?’ the Lord replied, ‘If at Sodom I find fifty just men in the town, I will spare the whole place because of them.’
Abraham replied, ‘I am bold indeed to speak like this to my Lord, I who am dust and ashes. But perhaps the fifty just men lack five: will you destroy the whole city for five?’ ‘No,’ he replied ‘I will not destroy it if I find forty-five just men there.’ Again Abraham said to him, ‘Perhaps there will only be forty there.’ ‘I will not do it’ he replied ‘for the sake of the forty.’
Abraham said, ‘I trust my Lord will not be angry, but give me leave to speak: perhaps there will only be thirty there.’ ‘I will not do it’ he replied ‘if I find thirty there.’ He said, ‘I am bold indeed to speak like this, but perhaps there will only be twenty there.’ ‘I will not destroy it’ he replied ‘for the sake of the twenty.’ He said, ‘I trust my Lord will not be angry if I speak once more: perhaps there will only be ten.’ ‘I will not destroy it’ he replied ‘for the sake of the ten.’
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 137:1-3,6-8
On the day I called, you answered me, O Lord.
I thank you, Lord, with all my heart:
you have heard the words of my mouth.
In the presence of the angels I will bless you.
I will adore before your holy temple.
On the day I called, you answered me, O Lord.
I thank you for your faithfulness and love,
which excel all we ever knew of you.
On the day I called, you answered;
you increased the strength of my soul.
On the day I called, you answered me, O Lord.
The Lord is high yet he looks on the lowly
and the haughty he knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of affliction
you give me life and frustrate my foes.
On the day I called, you answered me, O Lord.
You stretch out your hand and save me,
your hand will do all things for me.
Your love, O Lord, is eternal,
discard not the work of your hands.
On the day I called, you answered me, O Lord.
Second reading Colossians 2:12-14
You have been buried with Christ, when you were baptised; and by baptism, too, you have been raised up with him through your belief in the power of God who raised him from the dead. You were dead, because you were sinners and had not been circumcised: he has brought you to life with him, he has forgiven us all our sins.
He has overridden the Law, and cancelled every record of the debt that we had to pay; he has done away with it by nailing it to the cross.
Gospel Acclamation Jn1:14,12
Alleluia, alleluia!
The Word was made flesh and lived among us:
to all who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God.
Alleluia!
Or Rm8:15
Alleluia, alleluia!
The spirit you received is the spirit of sons,
and it makes us cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’
Alleluia!
Gospel Luke 11:1-13
Once Jesus was in a certain place praying, and when he had finished one of his disciples said, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.’ He said to them, ‘Say this when you pray:
“Father, may your name be held holy,
your kingdom come;
give us each day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive each one who is in debt to us.
And do not put us to the test.”’
He also said to them, ‘Suppose one of you has a friend and goes to him in the middle of the night to say, “My friend, lend me three loaves, because a friend of mine on his travels has just arrived at my house and I have nothing to offer him”; and the man answers from inside the house, “Do not bother me. The door is bolted now, and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up to give it you.” I tell you, if the man does not get up and give it him for friendship’s sake, persistence will be enough to make him get up and give his friend all he wants.
‘So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For the one who asks always receives; the one who searches always finds; the one who knocks will always have the door opened to him. What father among you would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread? Or hand him a snake instead of a fish? Or hand him a scorpion if he asked for an egg? If you then, who are evil, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!’

SUNDAY GOSPEL OF WEEK 17 IN ORDINARY TIME, IN YEAR C
11. Tagħlim fuq it-talb (Mt 6, 9-15 ; 7, 7-11)
[Lq:11:1] Darba kien qiegħed xi mkien jitlob. Kif spiċċa mit-talb, wieħed mid-dixxipli tiegħu qallu: "Mulej, għallimna nitolbu, bħalma Ġwanni wkoll għallem lid-dixxipli tiegħu." [Lq:11:2] U qalilhom: "Meta titolbu, għidu, 'Missier, jitqaddes ismek, tiġi Saltnatek. [Lq:11:3] Ħobżna ta' kuljum agħtina kuljum. [Lq:11:4] U aħfrilna dnubietna, għax aħna wkoll naħfru lil kull min hu ħati għalina, u la ddaħħalniex fit-tiġrib.' " [Lq:11:5] Qalilhom ukoll: "Wieħed minnkom ikollu ħabib li jiġih f'nofs ta' lejl u jgħidlu, 'Ħabib, islifni tliet ħobżiet, [Lq:11:6] għax ġie għandi wieħed ħabib tiegħi mill-vjaġġ u ma għandix x'nagħtih.' [Lq:11:7] U l-ieħor iwieġbu minn ġewwa u jgħidlu, 'Iddejjaqnix; issa l-bieb magħluq, u wliedi qegħdin fis-sodda miegħi; ma nistax inqum nagħtik.' [Lq:11:8] Ngħidilkom jien, li jekk ma jqumx jagħtih għax ħabib tiegħu, iqum u jagħtih kull ma jkollu bżonn minħabba l-wiċċ sfiq tiegħu. U jiena ngħidilkom: [Lq:11:9] Itolbu u jingħatalkom, fittxu u ssibu, ħabbtu u jiftħulkom. [Lq:11:10] Għax min jitlob, jaqla'; min ifittex, isib; u min iħabbat, jiftħulu. [Lq:11:11] Min hu dak il-missier fostkom li, jekk ibnu jitolbu ħuta, minflok ħuta jagħtih serp? [Lq:11:12] Inkella jekk jitolbu bajda jagħtih skorpjun? [Lq:11:13] Mela jekk intom, nies ħżiena bħalkom, tafu tagħtu lil uliedkom ħwejjeġ tajba, kemm aktar il-Missier mis-smewwiet jagħti spirtu qaddis lil dawk li jitolbuhulu!"
