The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

DŒMONUM TERROR - The surprising day when the devil himself praised Mary’s Immaculate Conception - La donna che schiaccia il serpente - The woman who crushes the serpent

DŒMONUM TERROR

The Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God

The surprising day when the devil himself praised Mary’s Immaculate Conception

During an exorcism in Italy in 1823, two Dominican priests made the devil acknowledge the dogma that would be declared 30 years later.

December 8, 1854: Pope Pius IX promulgates the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
March 25, 1858: On the feast of the Incarnation of the Word, the Blessed Virgin appears in Lourdes to St. Bernadette and confirms the dogma, saying, “I am the Immaculate Conception.”
But 20 years earlier, another supernatural and surprising event had already confirmed the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mother of God. And the one who declared it was someone we never would have expected to do so. The event is related by Fr. Gabriele Amorth, a late exorcist of the Diocese of Rome.
It was the year 1823. The devil had possessed an illiterate 12-year-old boy, who lived in what is today the Italian province of Avellino, near Naples in southern Italy. Two Dominican priests who were in the city, Fr. Gassiti and Fr. Pignataro, were both authorized by the bishop to perform exorcisms.
The priests asked the demon that was possessing the boy a series of questions—among them, one about the Immaculate Conception.
The devil admitted that the Virgin of Nazareth had never been under his power: not even at the first instant of her life, because she was conceived “full of grace” and fully belonging to God.
Although he may be the “father of lies,” the devil can be forced to tell the truth during an exorcism, even in matters of faith. This was how the two exorcists forced him to pay homage to the Virgin and praise her Immaculate Conception, in verse.
Humiliated, the devil was coerced, in the name of Christ, to sing the glory of Mary, and he did so by means of a sonnet in Italian—perfect in form and in theology!
Here, we present the original in Italian, and then the translation into English:

e son figlia di Lui, benché sua Madre;

son Io sua creatura e gli son Madre;
fu prodigo divin l’esser mio Figlio

In English:
I am the true Mother of a God who is Son,
And I am his daughter, although his Mother;
He was born from eternity, and is my Son,

I was born within time, and yet I am his Mother.
He is my creator, and is my Son,
I am his creation, and his mother;

It was a divine marvel that my Son
Was an eternal God, who had Me as his Mother.
Our being is almost shared between Mother and Son
Because the Mother received her existence from her Son,
And the Son also received his existence from his Mother.

If, then, the Son received his existence from his Mother,
We either must say that the Son was stained by the Mother,
Or we must say that the Mother is Immaculate.

Il Drago apologeta della Donna dell’Apocalisse
http://www.mariadinazareth.it/La%20Donna%20e%20il%20drago/3.htm

Fu prodigio divin l’esser mio Figlio

Catechism on the Holy Spirit – By St. John Vianney

O my Children, how beautiful it is! The Father is our Creator, the Son is our Redeemer, and the Holy Ghost is our Guide. . . . Man by himself is nothing, but with the Holy Spirit he is very great. Man is all earthly and all animal; nothing but the Holy Spirit can elevate his mind, and raise it on high. Why were the saints so detached from the earth? Because they let themselves be led by the Holy Spirit. Those who are led by the Holy Spirit have true ideas; that is the reason why so many ignorant people are wiser than the learned. When we are led by a God of strength and light, we cannot go astray.

The Holy Spirit is light and strength. He teaches us to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and between good and evil. Like glasses that magnify objects, the Holy Spirit shows us good and evil on a large scale. With the Holy Spirit we see everything in its true proportions; we see the greatness of the least actions done for God, and the greatness of the least faults. As a watchmaker with his glasses distinguishes the most minute wheels of a watch, so we, with the light of the Holy Ghost, distinguish all the details of our poor life. Then the smallest imperfections appear very great, the least sins inspire us with horror. That is the reason why the most Holy Virgin never sinned. The Holy Ghost made her understand the hideousness of sin; she shuddered with terror at the least fault.
Those who have the Holy Spirit cannot endure themselves, so well do they know their poor misery. The proud are those who have not the Holy Spirit.
Worldly people have not the Holy Spirit, or if they have, it is only for a moment. He does not remain with them; the noise of the world drives Him away. A Christian who is led by the Holy Spirit has no difficulty in leaving the goods of this world, to run after those of Heaven; he knows the difference between them. The eyes of the world see no further than this life, as mine see no further than this wall when the church door is shut. The eyes of the Christian see deep into eternity. To the man who gives himself up to the guidance of the Holy Ghost, there seems to be no world; to the world there seems to be no God. . . . We must therefore find out by whom we are led. If it is not by the Holy Ghost, we labour in vain; there is no substance nor savour in anything we do. If it is by the Holy Ghost, we taste a delicious sweetness . . . it is enough to make us die of pleasure!
Those who are led by the Holy Spirit experience all sorts of happiness in themselves, while bad Christians roll themselves on thorns and flints. A soul in which the Holy Spirit dwells is never weary in the presence of God; his heart gives forth a breath of love. Without the Holy Ghost we are like the stones on the road. . . . Take in one hand a sponge full of water, and in the other a little pebble; press them equally. Nothing will come out of the pebble, but out of the sponge will come abundance of water. The sponge is the soul filled with the Holy Spirit, and the stone is the cold and hard heart which is not inhabited by the Holy Spirit.
A soul that possesses the Holy Spirit tastes such sweetness in prayer, that it finds the time always too short; it never loses the holy presence of God. Such a heart, before our good Saviour in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar, is a bunch of grapes under the wine press. The Holy Spirit forms thoughts and suggests words in the hearts of the just. . . . Those who have the Holy Spirit produce nothing bad; all the fruits of the Holy Spirit are good. Without the Holy Spirit all is cold; therefore, when we feel we are losing our fervour, we must instantly make a novena to the Holy Spirit to ask for faith and love. . . . See, when we have made a retreat or a jubilee, we are full of good desires: these good desires are the breath of the Holy Ghost, which has passed over our souls, and has renewed everything, like the warm wind which melts the ice and brings back the spring. . . . You who are not great saints, you still have many moments when you taste the sweetness of prayer and of the presence of God: these are visits of the Holy Spirit. When we have the Holy Spirit, the heart expands - bathes itself in divine love. A fish never complains of having too much water, neither does a good Christian ever complain of being too long with the good God. There are some people who find religion wearisome, and it is because they have not the Holy Spirit.
If the damned were asked: Why are you in Hell? they would answer: For having resisted the Holy Spirit. And if the saints were asked, Why are you in Heaven? they would answer: For having listened to the Holy Spirit. When good thoughts come into our minds, it is the Holy Spirit who is visiting us. The Holy Spirit is a power. The Holy Spirit supported St. Simeon on his column; He sustained the martyrs. Without the Holy Spirit, the martyrs would have fallen like the leaves from the trees. When the fires were lighted under them, the Holy Spirit extinguished the heat of the fire by the heat of divine love. The good God, in sending us the Holy Spirit, has treated us like a great king who should send his minister to guide one of his subjects, saying, "You will accompany this man everywhere, and you will bring him back to me safe and sound. " How beautiful it is, my children, to be accompanied by the Holy Spirit! He is indeed a good Guide; and to think that there are some who will not follow Him. The Holy Spirit is like a man with a carriage and horse, who should want to take us to Pans. We should only have to say "yes, " and to get into it. It is indeed an easy matter to say "yes"!. . . Well, the Holy Spirit wants to take us to Heaven; we have only to say "yes, " and to let Him take us there.
The Holy Spirit is like a gardener cultivating our souls. . . The Holy Spirit is our servant. . . . There is a gun; well you load it, but someone must fire it and make it go off. . . . In the same way, we have in ourselves the power of doing good. . . when the Holy Spirit gives the impulse, good works are produced. The Holy Spirit reposes in just souls like the dove in her nest. He brings out good desires in a pure soul, as the dove hatches her young ones. The Holy Spirit leads us as a mother leads by the hand her child of two years old, as a person who can see leads one who is blind.
The Sacraments which Our Lord instituted would not have saved us without the Holy Spirit. Even the death of Our Lord would have been useless to us without Him. Therefore Our Lord said to His Apostles, "It is good for you that I should go away; for if I did not go, the Consoler would not come. " The descent of the Holy Ghost was required, to render fruitful that harvest of graces. It is like a grain of wheat - you cast it into the ground; yes, but it must have sun and rain to make it grow and come into ear. We should say every morning, "O God, send me Thy Spirit to teach me what I am and what Thou art. "

IR-RUŻARJU GĦAT-TIĠDID TA' PENTEKOSTE FIL-KNISJA

L-Ewwel Misteru
Ġesu jwiegħed l-Ispirtu s-Santu

"Imma meta jiġi fuqkom l-Ispirtu s-Santu, intom tirċievu l-qawwa, u tkunu xhieda tiegħi f'Ġerusalemm, fil-Lhudija kollha u s-Samarija u sa truf l-art." (Atti 1:8)

It-Tieni Misteru
Nitolbu għad-don tal-Ispirtu s-Santu

"Qalilhom ukoll: "Wieħed minnkom ikollu ħabib li jiġih f'nofs ta' lejl u jgħidlu, 'Ħabib, islifni tliet ħobżiet, għax ġie għandi wieħed ħabib tiegħi mill-vjaġġ u ma għandix x'nagħtih.'U l-ieħor iwieġbu minn ġewwa u jgħidlu, 'Iddejjaqnix; issa l-bieb magħluq, u wliedi qegħdin is-sodda miegħi; ma nistax inqum nagħtik.' Ngħidilkom jien, li jekk ma jqumx jagħtih għax ħabib tiegħu, iqum u jagħtih kull ma jkollu bżonn minħabba l-wiċċ sfiq tiegħu. U jiena ngħidilkom: Itolbu u jingħatalkom, fittxu u ssibu, ħabbtu u jiftħulkom.Għax min jitlob, jaqla'; min ifittex, isib; u min iħabbat, jiftħulu. Min hu dak il-missier fostkom li, jekk ibnu jitolbu ħuta, minflok ħuta jagħtih serp? Inkella jekk jitolbu bajda jagħtih skorpjun? Mela jekk intom, nies ħżiena bħalkom, tafu tagħtu lil uliedkom ħwejjeġ tajba, kemm aktar il-Missier mis-smewwiet jagħti spirtu qaddis lil dawk li jitolbuhulu!" (Lq 11: 5-13).

It-Tielet Misteru
Nirċiecu lIspirtu s-Santu f’qalb waħda ma’ Marija

"U lkoll qalb waħda kienu jitolbu flimkien ma' xi nisa u ma' Marija, omm Ġesù, u ma' ħutu... Meta wasal jum Għid il-Ħamsin, huma kienu lkoll flimkien f'post wieħed. F'daqqa waħda ġie mis-sema ħoss bħal ta' riħ qawwi, u mela d-dar kollha fejn kienu qegħdin. U dehrulhom ilsna qishom tan-nar, li tqassmu u qagħdu fuq kull wieħed minnhom. Mtlew ilkoll bl-Ispirtu s-Santu u bdew jitkellmu b'ilsna oħra, skond ma l-Ispirtu kien jagħtihom li jitkellmu." (Atti 1: 14; 2: 1-4).

Ir-Raba' Misteru
Nixxenqu għall-Frott tal-Ispirtu s-Santu

"Jien ngħidilkom, imxu fl-Ispirtu u taqgħux għall-passjonijiet tal-ġisem. Il-passjonijiet tal-ġisem huma kontra l-Ispirtu, u l-Ispirtu hu kontra l-ġisem; dawn it-tnejn huma kontra xulxin, biex ma jħallukomx tagħmlu dak li tixtiequ. Jekk lilkom imexxikom l-Ispirtu, m'intomx taħt il-liġi. L-għemejjel tal-ġisem huma magħrufa: żína, faħx, nuqqas ta' rażan, idolatrija, seħer, mibegħda, ġlied, għira, korla, ambizzjoni, firda, partiti, invidja, sokor, tbahrid, u ħwejjeġ bħal dawn. Nwissikom, bħalma wissejtkom qabel, min jagħmel dawn il-ħwejjeġ ma jiritx is-saltna ta' Alla. Il-frott ta' l-Ispirtu huma: l-imħabba, l-hena, is-sliem, is-sabar,

il-ħniena, it-tjieba, il-fidi, il-ħlewwa, ir-rażan. Kontra dawn ma hemmx liġi. Dawk li huma ta' Kristu Ġesù sallbu l-ġisem bil-ġibdiet u l-passjonijiet tiegħu. Jekk ngħixu bl-Ispirtu, ħalli nimxu bl-Ispirtu; ma nkunux minn dawk li jfittxu l-ftaħir fieragħ; ma nġarrbux lil xulxin; ma ngħirux għal xulxin." (Gal 5:16-26).

Il-Ħames Misteru
Nixxenqu għad-Doni tal-Ispirtu s-Santu

"Ma rridkomx ma tkunux tafu, ħuti, dwar id-doni ta' l-Ispirtu. Tafu li, meta kontu pagani, intom kontu mkaxkrin lejn l-idoli li ma jitkellmux, bla ma biss kontu tafu. Għalhekk ngħidilkom li ħadd, hu u jitkellem bl-Ispirtu ta' Alla, ma jista' jgħid: "Misħut Ġesù u ħadd ma jista' jgħid: "Ġesù hu l-Mulej" jekk mhux imqanqal mill-Ispirtu s-Santu.

Hemm imbagħad diversi doni, imma l-istess wieħed hu l-Ispirtu; hemm diversi ministeri, imma l-istess wieħed hu l-Mulej; hemm diversi ħidmiet, imma l-istess Alla, li jaħdem kollox f'kulħadd. Lil kull wieħed tingħata r-rivelazzjoni ta' l-Ispirtu għall-ġid ta' kulħadd: lil wieħed kliem l-għerf, mill-istess Spirtu; lil ieħor il-kelma tas-sapjenza mill-istess Spirtu; lil ieħor il-fidi mill-istess Spirtu; lil ieħor id-don tal-fejqan mill-istess Spirtu; lil ieħor is-setgħa tal-mirakli; lil ieħor id-don tal-profezija; lil ieħor id-don ta' l-għażla ta' l-ispirti; lil ieħor diversi ilsna; lil ieħor it-tifsir ta' l-ilsna. Dan kollu jaħdmu l-istess Spirtu wieħed, li jqassam lil kull wieħed kif jogħġbu... Fittxu l-imħabba; ixxennqu wkoll għad-doni ta' l-Ispirtu"

(1 Kor 12:1-11; 1 Kor 14:1).

O SPIRTU S-SANTU - Talba ta' Santa Tereża ta' Avila

Romans 8:11

Rum:8:11
Jekk l-Ispirtu ta' dak li qajjem lil Ġesù mill-imwiet jgħammar fikom, Alla stess li qajjem lil Kristu mill-imwiet iqajjem għall-ħajja wkoll il-ġisem mejjet tagħkom, bis-saħħa ta' l-Ispirtu li jgħammar fikom.
