Nata a Pozzomaggiore (Sassari) il 2 Maggio 1880, Edvige Carboni è una delle più belle figure spirituali dell' 800 e del 900.
Grande Mistica, ardentissima di Amore per Cristo Crocefisso e ricolma di Carità verso i più poveri e i più deboli, sopratutto gli ammalati, era beneficata da numerose visioni di Gesù, della Vergine SS., di Santi e anime del Purgatorio, ed aveva anche altri Carismi straordinari come estasi, spirito di profezia, bilocazioni e levitazioni. Spesso era vittima delle vessazioni dal demonio. Di grande e profonda umiltà, non dava importanza ai carismi che aveva, era ubbidientissima ai suoi direttori spirituali nonchè devotissima al Papa e alla Chiesa. Dovunque sia stata ha lasciato una grande impronta di sè e della sua Santità negli animi delle persone.
E' morta quasi improvvisamente la sera del 17 febbraio 1952 a Roma, nel silenzio e nell’umiltà come era vissuta.
